Landscapes of Fire is a cliché verre series on a secondhand glass affects, exploring fire's disposition for sparking regenerative and destructive cycles generationally, in relation to the body and land. Grounded in Nahdee's personal reflections on her heritage and traditional territory, she utilizes the odehmin as a motif to unite the land and body in this series of reverence.
Emilia Nahdee's heritage is of the Shawnee people of the Ohio River Valley and the Nations of the Three Fires Confederacy. Her Potawatomi heritage from her patrilineal Grandmother, are traditionally regarded as the fire keepers within the Confederacy. Walpole Island is a significant site of tallgrass prairie and oak savannah, which are delicate ecosystems that have been maintained for generations in part by controlled burns.
